Activities for Observation/ Participation for PNC Course

 

The purpose of the field experience is to assist the teacher and in so doing, learn what teaching is like from the other side of the desk.  There are three categories that must be completed during this experience:  observation, assisting the teacher, and participating as a teacher.  Please review the following list and decide along with your supervising teacher which activities you plan to do during the semester.

 

Observation (you must complete this part)

 

 Observe teacher and students

 

Assisting the Teacher:  Check at least three of the following:

 

 Taking attendance

 

 Preparing Bulletin Board

 

 Preparing transparencies, worksheets, or any other duplicated materials

 

 Obtaining audio/visual equipment and/or books from the library

 

 Collecting or distributing materials

 

 Grading papers

 

 Recording grades

Participating as a Teacher:   Check at least three of the following:

 

 Tutoring students

 

Helping individual students with missed assignments

 

 Administering a make-up exam or worksheet activity

 

 Leading or assisting with a small group activity (i.e. reading or math groups)

 

Assisting small groups of students as they do specific activities

 

 Reading a book to the entire class

 

Presenting a lesson to the whole class or part of the class.
