PNC's Professional Behaviors and Dispositions

for Elementary Education Program Candidates

In addition to assessing the knowledge and performance of teacher candidates at Purdue North Central, the Education Program at PNC is also responsible for assessing each candidates' dispositions.  Dispositions are defined by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) as “professional attitudes, values, and beliefs demonstrated through both verbal and non-verbal behaviors as educators interact with students, families, colleagues, and communities.”  In order to help future teachers understand the importance of teaching as a profession, the PNC elementary education program has also determined professional behaviors that our candidates are responsible for demonstrating during the course of their undergraduate work in preparation to receive a teaching license.  The following forms are important for all students involved in the elementary education program, but will not be assessed formally until the beginning of the first block.
